On Monday, June 1 Parkside Estates came a step closer to reality with a 5-1 vote of approval at Huntington Beach's City Council. The Council approved the project's revised Tentative Tract Maps and the revised site plan for Parkside Estates.

We would like to thank all of our supporters who sent letters to the City Council, or attended the June 1 hearing. We greatly appreciate all of the support that you have given us during this process.

Now, Parkside Estates is going back to the California Coastal Commission to receive an Implementation Plan Amendment (IPA) and a Coastal Development Permit. We intend to begin this process by the end of June. During the IPA process we will work out the details on topics including:

  • The creation and maintenance of the wetlands
  • Preservation of the eucalyptus groves
  • Public access plan
  • Minimizing impacts to natural resources during levee and neighborhood construction

There are only a few more steps until Parkside Estates is completely approved and its new homes will become available. We are optimistic that we will be successful in our efforts, as decision-makers at all levels continue to agree with us that Parkside Estates has adequately addressed all questions and concerns that have been raised throughout the process.

  • 23 acres of protected open space, with restored wetlands and preserved habitat for birds of prey
  • New parks and trails
  • New and improved flood control systems that will eliminate or reduce flood insurance premiums for thousands of Huntington Beach home and business owners
  • A water quality natural treatment system that will treat runoff from existing urbanized areas that currently reaches Huntington Harbour and the Pacific Ocean untreated
  • And of course, beautiful new coastal-close homes.
