Aerial photo showing muted tidal basin, PCH, Warner, Graham.

The “Muted Tidal Basin” built by federal wildlife agencies as part of the Bolsa Chica Restoration project is a 40-acre saltwater pond that is more than three feet higher than neighborhoods in the Warner/Graham area. The only thing keeping this water from flowing into the neighborhoods is an old oil field road – not a certified levee.

Animation in the top frame shows what would happen if high tides pushed this water through the oil field road and into neighborhoods.

The lower frame shows how the proposed “Vegetated Flood Protection Feature” would protect Parkside Estates and other local neighborhoods.
