Unexpected Coastal Decision
Delays Parkside Approval

On October 6, the Coastal Commission voted 6-5 to delay Parkside Estates by denying our coastal development permit. This was unexpected and a disappointment to our team.

We would like to thank the five Commissioners who voted in support of our permit and the hundreds of Huntington Beach residents who expressed their support of Parkside Estates to the Commission.

We are now reviewing several options, and look forward to sharing them with our supporters in the near future.

FEMA Letter Verifies
Parkside Flood Benefits

A recent letter from the Federal Insurance Management Agency to the City of Huntington Beach verifies that approval of Parkside Estates and completion of its required flood protection improvements will lead to a new flood insurance rate map for much of Huntington Beach.

The letter, from the chief of FEMA's flood plain management division, states, "Specifically, the CLOMR [Conditional Letter of Map Revision] in question (CLOMR 01-09-0393R) is still valid." That is the number of Shea Homes' CLOMR, issued in May 2002.
